The robot delivers food to and from tables.
In Red Bridge Shopping Center owned and operated by LANE 4 Property Group, Tanner’s, located at 11134 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri has partnered with Bear Robotics to be the first sports bar in Kansas City to use robot technology to support service staff. “We are thrilled to see more businesses like Tanner’s adopting automation in their workflow. Servi will provide staff with the resources they need to improve the customer dining experience and take some of the heavy lifting off their shoulders. We are proud to support Tanner’s staff through the implementation of Servi, and we look forward to
seeing how the business continues to grow,” says Bear Robotics COO, Juan Higueros.
Tanner’s Robot’s name is Sonny. It is housed on the kitchen expediter line. The expediter places the food on the 2
tray levels and programs the table number the robot should deliver the food to. After it arrives at the table, the staff
give the food to the guests and sends Sonny on his way back to the kitchen. If needed, the staff will give Sonny dirty
plates to deliver back to the dish station. Sonny is cleaned and sanitized before it delivers fresh food to guests.
“Having a robot assist me with serving my food to my tables has allowed me to have more hands for more tables,
which puts more money in my pocket,” Tanner’s server.
“It’s difficult to hire right now in our industry, so a robot who helps out in the restaurant is a no-brainer. Our team
has an assistant to run and bus food and drinks, which allows them to stay in the dining room longer to help give a
better guest experience,” Tanner’s manager.

About Tanner’s
The history of Tanner’s starts back in the 1980s, in the town of Atchison, KS. Grandpa Tanner spent years quenching the
thirsts of his friends and neighbors in this small college town where he grew up. But he had a bigger vision.
He envisioned a bar and grill where the service is always friendly, the food is tasty, and the beer is ice cold. It would not just be
another bar and grill. It would be an approach to life – a place for good times with great friends and where you could find
Grandpa himself, behind the bar, serving and entertaining guests both day and night.
The first Tanner’s Bar & Grill opened in 1985, on 87th Street, in the heart of Lenexa. Grandpa Tanner and his friends proudly
built it from the ground up and, from the very beginning, Tanner’s was the place to be. People traveled from near and far to enjoy good beers with even better people, relax in a friendly atmosphere, and watch the big games on the big screens (ok, back
then the screens weren’t big but it was the 80s!) Word traveled fast about what a great place Tanner’s was to visit and it wasn’t long before people in other parts of the city wanted the famous Chicken Lips, delicious Boogas, and Jumbo Wings. So Grandpa Tanner and his friends opened a new location in Overland Park, and then another in Waldo, and then another, and another. And even though more locations were added, he never lost sight of what Tanner’s was about. The dream of being “The Friendly Purveyors of Good Times, Fine Food, and The Pause That Refreshes” had become a reality. Grandpa Tanner had come to the big city and created something special.
