Pinnacle Winds, Kansas City’s professional-level concert band, announces the first concert of its fourth season. The Concert is set for Sunday, February 18, 2024. It will begin at 2:00 pm in the beautiful sanctuary of St. Peter and All Saints Episcopalian Church located at 100 E. Red Bridge Rd, Kansas City, MO 64114.
The concert is entitled “Love is in the Wind,” and will feature nationally renowned conductor Dr. Leslie W. Hicken as our guest conductor for the concert. Formally the Director of Bands at Furman University and Youngstown State University, Dr. Hicken was also a clarinetist in the United States Army Band at West Point, one of the finest concert bands in the world. He will be sharing podium duties with Pinnacle Winds conductor, Dr. John C. Carmichael. Compositions to be presented include the beautiful and touching Love Songs by Scott McAlister, Scenes from the Louvre by Norman Dello Joio, A Boy’s Dream by Jay Bocook, and Candide Suite by Leonard Bernstein. This will be an exciting and enjoyable concert performed by some of the most accomplished instrumentalists in the Kansas City area.
The concert is free and open to the public. Donations will be gladly received at the door, by UPC code, or by deposit in the bell of the tuba provided.
