Healient Physician Group has hired Dr. Patrick Santiago, a board-certified cardiologist with more than 27 years of practice who specializes in diagnosing and treating diseases and conditions of the heart and blood vessels. Dr. Santiago will join the Healient Group located at the hospital campus and will begin accepting new patients on Sept. 1, 2020.
A graduate of medical school at the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, Mexico, Dr. Santiago completed his residency and internship through Yale Medical School at Saint Raphael Hospital and his cardiology fellowship at the Mid-America Heart Institute at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
He started his career as an associate professor of medicine at Truman Medical Center where he held several leadership roles during his tenure and went on to provide cardiac care for patients in both urban and rural communities, working at St. Luke’s, Olathe Medical Center, and Midwest Heart Associates. A former director of cardiology at Lee’s Summit Medical Center, Dr. Santiago returns to the area after practicing for the past eight years at Maine Health in Belfast, Maine. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians, and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology.
“Dr. Santiago brings a multicultural and multilingual background in addition to his medical expertise,” says Jodi Fincher, CEO. “We are privileged to extend his specialized care to the St. Joseph community as he joins the outstanding Healient team and furthers its mission to provide every patient with targeted, personalized care and quality outcomes.”
