Being a 501(3)c organization, our focus is on serving the public using the many Kansas City and statewide resources available to us.

What are some of the Trailside Center’s successes or achievements that you are most proud of?

We are proud to introduce South Kansas City’s rich history and natural resources to visitors. For example, the Living History group offers attendees a chance to socialize in an informal setting to hear local World War II, Korea and Vietnam War survivor stories. Annual events focus on the walking/biking trail along Indian Creek near the facility.

What is an interesting fact about the Trailside Center that people might not know?

The building, formerly a bank, was acquired by Kansas City about 2004 and Trailside Center opened in July 2005. “The Vault” houses collections that include maps, books, paintings, and local artifacts. Home-school families love us and can participate in the Kansas City Passport to Adventure Program offered yearly.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

“The Watts Mill Meeting Room” contains paintings, photos, and memorabilia of the old Watts Mill at the town of Dallas, MO located on 103rd Street & State Line Rd.
