Please join us for another diversity & inclusion workshop – Alvin Brooks, Binding Us Together.

Mr. Brooks will be sharing his perspective from a lifetime as a civil rights activist and public servant, sharing stories that are heartfelt, tragic, and inextricably linked to our past and present. More relevant than ever to society today, his life’s work has been to better his community, make the world fairer for all, and diminish bias and discrimination. He proves that a good heart, generous spirit, and a lot of work can connect the world and bind us together.

MEET ALVIN BROOKS

2019 Kansas Citian of the Year Alvin Brooks is a former Kansas City police officer, Mayor Pro Tem, school board member, director of the City’s first human relations department, founder of AdHoc Group Against Crime, and author. Hear Mr. Brooks talk about building spaces of belonging in the workplace, where he found those spaces and where he didn’t across his own vast work experience, and how he works for a better community. KC Chamber Board member Jeff Simon, Office Managing Partner at Husch Blackwell, sits down with Mr. Brooks in a conversation about his book Binding Us Together as part of the Chamber’s DEI author series.
