What Is The Chamber?
The South Kansas City Chamber of Commerce is a business organization established in 1931 to serve the business community and make South Kansas City a great place to do business.
What Is The Chamber’s Service Area?
The Chamber serves over 60 square miles in South Kansas City. Boundaries are 85th Street north, Jackson County line south, State Line Road west and Kansas City, Missouri boundary east.
Who Joins The Chamber?
Members include businesses of only one or two employees to companies with several hundred employees. The majority of member businesses are located in the South Kansas City area, however, the Chamber does have members from all over the metropolitan area. They join the Chamber to collectively impact the growth and development of South Kansas City.
What’s In It For My Business?
The South Kansas City Chamber of Commerce gives you numerous opportunities to broaden your business contacts and referrals, have access to low and no-cost marketing opportunities, have an impact in federal, state and local politics, enhance your leadership and professional skills and participate in projects that affect the community.
Who Runs The Chamber?
The Chamber has one paid staff who takes care of the day-to-day operations of the Chamber. A Board of Directors of 18 business men and women, representing all segments of businesses govern the Chamber.
When Are Meetings Held?
The Chamber holds a Membership Luncheon on the third Thursday of each month from 11:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at varying locations. Each luncheon features a speaker who talks about timely issues affecting businesses. Other events are held throughout the year such as the Annual Dinner, Ultimate Networking, Golf Tournament, and 9-Chamber Office Party among others.
If I Cannot Attend An Event, Are Any Of My Employees Eligible To Come?
All of them are welcome to attend any event, either in your place or with you. Many of our programs are geared towards employees in addition to employers, so watch for information announcing programs that might be of more interest to someone in your company other than you.
What’s The Best Way To Get The Most Out Of My Membership?
Our most satisfied customers seem to be those who attend meetings and activities, and who use the Chamber as a source of information. Having said this, even if you can’t attend Chamber functions, we will continue to work on behalf of your business.
Is The South Kansas City Chamber Affiliated With The Greater Kansas City Chamber?
No. The South Kansas City Chamber is a separate organization and primarily serves businesses in the South Kansas City Area. When necessary, the two chambers do work together to work on issues that affect the business community.
