Leadership South Kansas City
|

Leadership South Kansas City is a program of the Kansas City South Foundation in coordination with the South Kansas City Chamber of Commerce.
Purpose:
To strengthen the vitality of South Kansas City by providing a forum to educate participants about the uniqueness of our community and to encourage their commitment to leadership roles.
Goals:
- To educate and motivate potential leaders for volunteer positions in the South Kansas City community and the metropolitan community at large.
- To provide a systematic program to familiarize participants with the community's opportunities, needs, problems and resources.
- To provide a base for present and future communications between participants and community leaders/officials.
- To highlight and observe effective leadership dynamics that move people and ideas.
History:
Leadership South Kansas City (LSKC) was first put on the drawing board in the fall of 1991. A dedicated committee of over a dozen South Kansas City Chamber members worked diligently for the next sixteen months and in February of 1993, the first class of LSKC was inaugurated.
Through the years we have consistently had classes of 12 - 18 participants. Topics have ranged from government, education, crime & safety, health care, transportation, leadership, volunteerism to small business issues.
This year we celebrate our seventeenth year of providing this educational forum. To date, nearly 350 people have attended the program including many of the originating designers. The program was moved under the newly formed Kansas City South Foundation in 2005 in coordination with the Chamber.
